Become an official U-T Race for Literacy Volunteer
As a Union-Tribune Race for Literacy volunteer, you'll be in the center of the action, providing support and direction for runners and spectators alike. We have many great opportunities for volunteers in pre-race activities on April 29, at the Kids Magic Mile on Saturday, May 3 and at the 8K on Sunday, May 4. As a volunteer, you'll get a cool Union-Tribune Race for Literacy T-shirt! If you're interested in volunteering, you can register as a volunteer online or contact Race Headquarters for an application; call (760) 692-2900. Once you're assigned a position, you'll be contacted 10 days prior to the event with detailed information. It's that easy and The San Diego Council on Literacy will really appreciate your help!

Want to get involved with The San Diego Council on Literacy in addition to being involved with the race?
The Council, which is comprised of more than 20 literacy programs throughout the county, needs dedicated volunteer tutors to help children, adults and families improve their literacy skills. Last year, the Council's Literacy Network helped more than 72,000 San Diegans — but there is still much to be done and tens of thousands more people are still in need. Volunteering through The San Diego Council on Literacy is a great opportunity to make a difference in people's lives. It's also an amazingly rewarding experience.
